Ashesi University is widely regarded as one of the best private universities in Africa. Founded in 2002 by Patrick Awuah, a former Microsoft engineer, Ashesi was built on the belief that the next generation of African leaders should be educated in an environment that fosters critical thinking, ethical leadership, and innovation. The university's liberal arts model requires all students, regardless of major, to take courses in humanities, social sciences, and leadership. Ashesi has an acceptance rate of approximately 20%, making it highly selective.
