Legon Admission Forms 2026/2027: Price, How to Buy, Deadlines, and What to Do Before You Apply

The University of Ghana, Legon, has opened applications for the 2026/2027 academic year. If you are a final year SHS student or have already graduated, the portal is open for you right now. This guide covers everything you need — the form price, where to buy it, the deadlines, and the decisions you should make before you spend a cedi.

How Much Are Legon Forms?

The University of Ghana e-voucher for Ghanaian applicants costs GHS 220.00 for the 2026/2027 academic year.

The e-voucher is non-refundable. Once you buy it, you cannot get your money back — which is exactly why you should know your programme choices and aggregate situation before purchasing.

Where to Buy the Legon E-Voucher

You can buy the UG e-voucher in three ways:

Through College Next Step

Not sure what you qualify for before you buy? Start on College Next Step's University of Ghana page. You can browse every programme UG offers, check entry requirements, see fees and cutoff history, and confirm your choices before committing to the form. When you are ready to apply, the page walks you through where and how to buy.

Through a bank (in person)

Walk into any branch of the following banks and ask for the University of Ghana application e-voucher:

  • Access Bank (Ghana) PLC
  • GCB Bank Limited
  • Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG)
  • Prudential Bank Limited
  • Ecobank Ghana Ltd
  • Zenith Bank (Ghana) Limited
  • Fidelity Bank
  • CAL Bank

At the bank, you will need to provide your name, mobile number, and email address. Your PIN will be sent to your phone after purchase.

Through USSD (on your phone, no bank visit needed)

Three options are available:

  • Prudential Bank: Dial *772*100# on any network → choose UG Voucher → Application Voucher → Mobile Money
  • Fidelity Bank: Dial *776*108# on any network → choose Admission Voucher → follow prompts
  • Consolidated Bank Ghana: Dial *924*200*25# on any network

If you complete payment but do not receive an SMS, contact the support lines before assuming something went wrong:

  • Prudential USSD support: 0501566748 / 0501566751 / 0509500664
  • Fidelity USSD support: 0240766768

After buying, keep your Serial Number and PIN safe. You will need them to log in to the application portal, and again later to check your admission status.

The Application Portal

Once you have your e-voucher, go to admissions.ug.edu.gh and log in with your Serial Number and PIN.

Do not share your PIN with anyone. It gives full access to your application, and any person — including café operators filling forms on behalf of students — can change your programme choices without you knowing.

Application Deadlines

| Applicant Type | Opens | Closes | |---|---|---| | Undergraduate Ghanaian (except Health Sciences) | 16th April 2026 | Open until WASSCE results are released | | Undergraduate Ghanaian (College of Health Sciences) | 16th April 2026 | 17th July 2026 (Tentative) | | Diploma to Degree | 16th April 2026 | 17th July 2026 (Tentative) | | Postgraduate | 19th February 2026 | 14th August 2026 | | Post-First Degree LLB | February 2026 | 31st May 2026 |

Why Health Sciences has an earlier, separate deadline

Programmes under the College of Health Sciences — Medicine (MBChB), Dental Surgery, Pharmacy, Nursing, Midwifery, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Physiotherapy, Dietetics, Diagnostic Radiography, Occupational Therapy, and Respiratory Therapy — do not follow the standard undergraduate timeline.

Admission into these programmes involves an entrance examination and an interview process before final selection is made. UG needs to close applications earlier to allow time to shortlist candidates, schedule examinations, conduct interviews, and process outcomes before the academic year begins.

The specific deadline for these Health Sciences programmes for 2026/2027 has not yet been confirmed. Check admissions.ug.edu.gh regularly — this is the category where late submission is most likely to cost you your spot.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for undergraduate admission at UG Legon, you need:

  • Credit passes (A1–C6 in WASSCE) in all four core subjects: English Language, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science, and Social Studies
  • Credit passes (A1–C6) in three elective subjects relevant to your chosen programme
  • A total aggregate of 24 or better (using your best six subjects: 3 core + 3 electives)

For science-related programmes, your aggregate is calculated using English, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science, and three science electives. Social Studies is not included in the calculation. For non-science programmes, the calculation uses English, Core Mathematics, Social Studies, and three relevant electives.

Grades of D7, E8, or F9 are not acceptable. They do not count toward your aggregate and do not fulfil subject requirements.

Understanding Your Programme Choices

This is where most students make mistakes — not because they are careless, but because the rules are not clearly explained anywhere.

Check your eligibility on College Next Step before you choose

Before filling in any choices, create a free account on College Next Step. Upload your results and the platform automatically checks your eligibility against programmes across all Ghanaian universities, including UG Legon. You can browse every programme UG offers — course outlines, what the academic culture is like, career paths graduates have taken, fees per track, and cutoff history — and compare offerings side by side across different universities.

First choice programmes that cannot be listed as second or third choice

Certain programmes at UG must be your first choice or not at all. If you list them as second or third choice, they will not be considered. These include:

  • All programmes at the College of Health Sciences (Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Dentistry, etc.) — except those at the School of Allied Health Sciences
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine
  • BSc Information Technology
  • BSc Computer Engineering
  • BSc Biomedical Engineering

If Medicine or Nursing is your target, it must go in as first choice. Your second and third choices must then be from the Sciences.

If you are applying to BSc Administration or LLB as your first choice, UG strongly advises choosing Bachelor of Arts subject bouquets as your second choice. This increases your chances of getting into UG even if you miss your first choice cutoff.

The BA Bouquet System

Applying for a Bachelor of Arts programme at UG works differently from other programmes. Instead of choosing a specific BA subject, you choose up to four subject bouquets in order of preference from the list provided on the application portal. The university then places you based on your aggregate and available spaces. If you are applying for a BA programme, review the bouquet list carefully before filling your form.

The Fee-Paying Track

If you meet UG's general entry requirements but your aggregate falls short of the competitive cutoff for your preferred programme, you can opt for the fee-paying scheme. You indicate this directly on the application form.

Fee-paying students pay higher fees than regular track students. The academic programme and qualification are the same. If your aggregate is borderline for a competitive programme, this is worth considering — but understand what you are committing to financially before you tick the box.

A Note on Scams

UG's IT Directorate has issued repeated warnings: no individual or group has been authorised to collect money in exchange for admission or accommodation at UG. The process is fully online and fully transparent. If anyone approaches you claiming they can secure your admission for a fee, report them to secure@ug.edu.gh with screenshots.

This includes café operators or agents filling your form on your behalf. There is nothing wrong with getting help navigating the portal — but the programme choices should be yours, made with information you understand.

Before You Buy the Form

The e-voucher is GHS 220 and non-refundable. The most useful thing you can do before spending it is to check whether your aggregate actually qualifies you for the programmes you want — and to understand what your realistic backup options are.

Create a free account on College Next Step, upload your results, and see exactly which UG programmes you qualify for — along with course details, fees, career paths, and how your options compare across other universities.
